Sorting out the sorting in omnichannel retailing

The increasing complexity of today's omnichannels has led to challenges with logistics efficiency and customer utility. In this paper, we show how retailers address these by sorting goods at multiple points across the network inside each material-handling node. As contemporary research on omnichannel phenomenon is limited fragmented, conduct an abductive case study elaborate transvection theory. It explains why retailers, depending their context, prepone some activities upstream postpone others handle trade-offs between utility efficiency. An artifact, including structured terminology, six aspects, iconographic platform, constructed support analysis extent, variety, both strategic level operational node level. We conclude submitting 10 theoretical actionable design propositions that decision making in (re)designing networks offer avenues for future research.
